About the role:

In partnership with a local church, Norwich opened their first Hope into Action home for the homeless in 2012. Since then the project has gone from strength to strength, opening its 13th home in 2021. Each of these homes is in partnership with a local church. The team consists of 6 gifted and committed staff, whom you will line manage. 

You will not only maintain the current daily workload, but also seek out new opportunities, connecting with a range of agencies, organisations and churches.

  • A growing number of beautiful homes, each in partnership with a church with whom we have a deepening relationship and understanding

  • The Norwich budgets, occupancy and debts meeting targets 

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone with natural leadership skills that balance humility and confidence. An ability to delegate and empower others, whilst retaining excellent accountability and care. Making difficult decisions and intervening in a range of scenarios will be part of your role, so adaptability and resilience are essential. 

The ability to learn new skills is important, as is a willingness to contribute to Hope into Action UK’s strategy, policies, future and management. As one of five line-managed city Team Leads, this is a key role in the organisation. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who has a passion for the Charity's mission and values and is excited by the prospect of taking the Norwich project into a new season. Initiative, a gift for networking, the ability to problem solve and a healthy approach to conflict management are all beneficial qualities.

About us:

We believe everyone has the right to a home and churches have the power to meet the tragedy of homelessness in their community. 

Starting 12 years ago, we have grown into a mature organisation working with over 88 churches running 96 homes for over 260 tenants. 

We have won numerous awards, from both secular and Christian agencies including Homeless Link, the Guardian newspaper and the Centre for Social Justice.  

We provide not just shelter and housing know-how to people whom others have often given up on, but also the friendship of a church. Our first home had a real heart for men coming out of prison. Other homes are now available for a wide range of people experiencing homelessness: people in recovery from addiction, people sleeping rough, women and children fleeing domestic violence, people coming out of rehab, former sex workers, refugees, families, those suffering mental health issues and survivors of human trafficking.  

We are now partnering with churches across the country in 30+ locations. We encourage others to replicate our model through franchising. Our vision is for every church to lovingly provide the homeless with a home.
